Sound house - a walk-in instrument

The Klanghaus Toggenburg is a place where architecture, sound and nature interact in a unique way. The rooms are built like an instrument and offer visitors special sound experiences. Two outdoor stages invite you to music experiments and concerts on Lake Schwendi. With its incomparable acoustics, the Klanghaus attracts musicians for rehearsals, courses, workshops and seminars.

Public guided tours in the Klanghaus

Discover the Toggenburg Sound House - a place where architecture and acoustics merge in a fascinating way. The guided tours offer insights into the extraordinary rooms and the special construction of the house. The highlight is a visit to the central room - the heart of the sound - where sound and space can be experienced in a unique way.

Choose between a general tour or a themed tour with a focus on acoustics or architecture. Afterwards, the cozy parlor invites you to linger - with a drink and exciting conversations about what you have experienced.

Sound path

Let it sound! Lined by the panorama of the Churfirsten mountains, young and old can experience a total of 26 sound installations that are waiting to be played. The entertaining walk in the mountains between Wildhauser Oberdorf and Alp Sellamatt offers all kinds of impressive and fun things to do!

Sound forge with escape room

Take a bell smithy, a museum, a sound experimentation room, a Toggenburg house organ, a stringed sound lounger, add the roar of a mighty water wheel and you have a unique sound forge in Toggenburg! Experience sound, resonance and tradition the Toggenburg way.

It couldn't be more exciting: in the escape room on the theme of sound, you puzzle your way from room to room in a group. The puzzles are based on a story about the music teacher Lena Jeger, who suddenly disappears without a trace. The only way to save Lena and the Toggenburg region is to solve all the puzzles within an hour!

Resonance Center Peter Roth

The Resonance Center is open daily

The Resonance Center with its exhibition, store and sound dome also invites visitors to discover, marvel and linger outside of the guided tours - just a five-minute walk from the Klanghaus.

The Peter Roth Resonance Center, designed as a wooden building, provides sound guests with holistic support and gives them access to the topic of "sound". The reception building serves as a central point of contact for cultural and tourist activities and as the official reception of the Klanghaus. The Klangdom will open together with the Klanghaus in May 2025.

The sound dome on the third floor of the Resonance Center is the heart of the building and the first publicly accessible sound dome in Switzerland. As a meeting and experience house, it offers interactive access to sound, resonance and vibration. The sound dome offers space for up to 100 guests, creates encounters and allows people to reflect on their sound experiences. An important part of the first audiovisual presentation is the documentary film series "Vom Zauberklang der Dinge", which shows the work of Peter Roth and the musicians accompanying him.

Opening hours

  • Store, resonance center & public toilets: daily 7:00-22:00

  • Staffed reception, exhibition & sound dome: daily 9:30-17:00

The highlight of the tour is the Sound Dome, the first of its kind open to the public in Switzerland: surrounded by 34 loudspeakers, you will experience an immersive 360° sound experience that goes far beyond listening.
